The New Madrid-Chamartín Clara Campoamor Station is a winner of the International Architecture Awards 2024.
The awards are organized by The Chicago Athenaeum and The European Centre for Architecture, Art, Design and Urban Studies. The international jury has selected, among almost 850 entries, the winning projects in the different categories of the 19th edition of the awards and our project is a winner in the “Bridges and Infrastructure” category.
Designed by b720 Fermín Vázquez Arquitectos together with co-authors UNStudio and ESTEYCO, “Chamartín Ecosistema Abierto” envisions an open, accessible, sustainable, digitized and inclusive mobility and transport hub, perfectly integrated into Madrid’s multifaceted urban fabric.
The awards ceremony took place on Saturday September 21st in Athens. The project team was represented by Pedro Baltar and Laura Martín (b720), Christian Robles (UNStudio) & Carlos García and Ana Cogolludo (Esteyco), who received the award from Mr Christian Narkiewicz-Laine, president of the Chicago Athenaeum.
The project team had the honour of being accompanied by representatives of the client, Adif (Antonio Ramírez – Director of Station Projects and Ana Martín Ramos – Director of Passenger Stations) and Crea Madrid Nuevo Norte (Sara Muñoz Vidal and Pablo Rodríguez García).
