Yesterday, October 29th, saw the presentation of the Roca City project in Alcalá de Henares, an urban regeneration project developed by Roca in close collaboration with the City Council of Alcalá de Henares, for which b720 Fermin Vazquez Arquitectos designed the master plan.
The plan involves the transformation of the site of the former Roca factory into a new eco-neighbourhood with 2,500 homes. A hybrid and inclusive urban model, it represents an opportunity to connect and bring cohesion to the city, proposing a new system of interconnected green spaces, squares and pedestrian streets.
The new eco-neighbourhood has been designed according to sustainability criteria, proposing a compact, integrated model with a mix of uses and a focus on quality urban space. The project highlights the character of Alcalá through the treatment of public space and integrates some elements of the old factory that form part of the identity of the place.
We are currently working on the drafting of the Specific Modification of the PGOU (General Urban Development Plan) that will make this new urban development possible, together with Arup, Rueda y Vega Arquitectos and Esteyco.
