Reception of the International Architecture Award 2023 for Futur Camp Nou

The International Architecture Awards gala took place on the 15th of September at Eleon Loft in Athens. The event was attended by representatives of the project team: Albert Freixes (b720), Diego Rodríguez (IDOM) and Daisuke Ibano and Masakazu Kimura (Nikken Sekkei), who received the joint prize awarded to our Spotify Camp Nou project in the “Sports and Recreation” category.

Organised by the Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design and The European Centre for Architecture, Design and Urban Studies, the International Architecture Awards are one of the most prominent international awards in the field of architecture.

On Tuesday 19th of September, at a meeting organised by FC Barcelona in the box of honour of the Lluís Companys Olympic Stadium, prior to the match between FC Barcelona and Royal Antwerp, the design team shared the award with the club and the fans. There, Joan Laporta, president of the club, received the trophy from Fermín Vázquez, Founding Partner of b720, Albert Freixes, Project Manager for b720, César Azcárate, Director of sports architecture at IDOM, Diego Rodríguez, Project Manager for IDOM and Juan Güell, Chief Architect from the Nikken Sekkei team. Elena Fort, vice-president of FCB, Lluís Moya (Espai Barça) and Joan Sentelles (Operations Director of the club) also took part in the event.
