The project will turn the AZCA area into a more connected, open and accessible space under the umbrella of sustainability, creating a highly biodiverse urban ecosystem composed of indigenous plant species, evoking ancient riverbeds that blend rainwater collection and storage systems for irrigation.
At the heart of the superblock is a large green meadow capable of hosting outdoor activities. To encourage biodiversity on the site, the aim is to replicate existing plant typologies in the Madrid region, planting native species and creating new urban habitats that favour human coexistence with flora and fauna species native to the region. On the other hand, the collection of rainwater, channelled through water games, allows the water to be stored for self-supply for irrigation purposes.
