Lleida-Alguaire Airport

We could be close to a decisive step forward –moving from buildings that seek to leave their mark on the world to those that try to avoid it. The new airport of Lérida (Spanish for Lleida), located 200 kilometres from Barcelona, falls into the second group. Far from trying to impose the classic model of airport architecture, which embodies the role of the building by locking like grounded spaceship in the middle of a field, this niw airport tries to become one with its surroundings, respecting and interpreting the landscape, almost disappearing into it (…).

Aeropuerto Lleida Alguaire

La primera consideración al abordar la cuestión de cómo debe expresarse un pequeño aeropuerto en la escala del paisaje del altiplano de Lleida ha sido la de encontrar el equilibrio entre el intento de evitar un artefacto extraño aterrizado y la de no perder el carácter de hito, de referencia reconocible en la distancia. Sobre la superficie limpia y amplia de los campos de cultivo, fragmentada únicamente en su mismo plano por las texturas de los diferentes colores, no se busca una referencia a las habituales metáforas formales referidas  las alas, las aves o al  mundo de la aerodinámica y la tecnología (…) 

Refurbishing of the Paseo del Óvalo 

 (…) The winner of that competition was the most auster entry, a project by the British architect David Chipperfield with the Barcelona firm b720 Fermín Vázquez Arquitectos. With the mannerist sensibility and the skill of an acupuncturist, it perforated the huge retaining wall beside the old Carmelite convent, now the seat of the Aragonese Government, to accommodate an elevator construction whose monumental and luminous façade one gets to from the train station by way of a carpet of stone. This interview with Fermín Vázquez reveals a new identity committed to the life and culture of present-day Spain. 

La Mola Hotel and Conference Centre

En un emplazamiento atrapado entre un campo de golf y un bosque, se distribuye un considerable volumen edificado. Tres pabellones dispersos en la ladera resuelven con rigurosa racionalidad un programa funcional (hotel y centro de convenciones) poco propicio para interpretaciones. El enlace entre ellos lo proporciona un cuerpo semienterrado que asume una mayor libertad formal y se protege del sol con una celosía arborescente. El color se convierte en un mecanismo contextualizador que, lejos de intentar camuflar, propone una consciente emulación artificial sobre un soporte no natural en intencionada correlación con la naturaleza del bosque y la artificial naturaleza del golf.

Viste Della nuova facciata di lastre di vetro colorato trasparente dell’edificio per uffici nella Calle Mestre Nicolau 19 a Barcellona. L’insieme si contraddistingue per due aspetti: sul piano orizzontale, per il colore, che muta del giallo all’arancio, reprendendo le tonalità delle tende tipique dei vicini balconi dele ase borghesi; sul piano verticale per la densità delle lastre, le quali assecondando l’irraggiamento solare e la larghezza della strada, si infittisce salendo verso i piani alti dove la protezione è maggiormente necessaria. 

La Mola Hotel and Conference Centre

Fermín Vázquez és irodája a b720 építészeinek egyik projektjét már bemutattuk korábbi lapszámunkban (ALAPRAJZ 2011/2: A tájba illesztett reptér). Ez alkalommal egy újabb környezetérzékeny épületegyüttesüket ismerhetik meg.Természetes és mesterséges táj határán, erdő és golfpálya által közrezárt területen található ez a komplexum. A program szerint közel 200 szobás szálloda célközönsége a szabadidejüket töltő szokványos turisták he-lyett az elfoglalt üzletemberek, akiknek kiszolgálására cirka 4000 négy-zetméternyi, fejlett technológiával felszerelt konferenciahelyszín áll rendelkezésre.
